The Health Coach Network was founded on Christian /philanthropic principles which means that we take an altruistic approach to serving individuals and communities.
Because we believe that transparency is the key to connecting with others and reciprocal accountability, our whole philosophy is one of transparency. With that in mind, we’ve included a few Q & A’s created by our funders that might help to bring a better understanding of our mission and vision and how we allocate your contributions if you decided to partner with us – but first, a bit about our background:
Background:
Founded in 2020 by Certified Integrative Nutrition / Health & Wellness Coach Madeleine Jomolca, The Health Coach Network addresses physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being by working with health systems, partners, employers, and communities. The concept of Whole-Body Wellness was initially driven by her own experience while working with highly medicated women within a Miami-based Rehabilitation Center as a Holistic Wellness Coach where she realized the marked and damaging discrepancies that dwell within a flawed healthcare system, due primarily to the lack of edification and resources. It became evident that reform was and is needed within the system and among all healthcare providers. A couple years later, research by The Commonwealth Fund revealed that the United States has the highest level of health care spending worldwide and relatively low rankings in overall health. The pandemic further highlighted inequalities, mental health issues, and the need for a “whole-person” approach to health care—which has subsequently revealed the power of communities to be a force for change.
What is the issue & need your organization is addressing?
Issue & Need:
Studies illustrate that during the last decade alone, modern medicine and the healthcare system have proven to be more of burden rather than alleviation. Among the barriers and inadequacies found in quality of care are high costs of care, minority health disparities, and lack of insurance coverage are among the top five. A John Hopkins eight-year longitudinal study revealed an additional barrier: lack of physician flexibility and availability, primarily due to economic pressures triggering a reduction in time spent with patients, subsequently limiting the marginalized communities especially from seeking proper, affordable treatment.
Furthermore, many of today’s clinicians prioritize the treatment of symptoms by cost while ignoring the root causes of disease and neglecting lifestyle measures for prevention. By doing so, the medical community is placing people at harm. The U.S. and other advanced nations influenced by a Western lifestyle, are in the midst of a health crisis, resulting largely from poor lifestyle choices.
WHAT does your organization do especially well?
The Team:
Though we are yet a small group, hoping to grow, our care providers are not only exceptionally passionate about putting people at the center of their own health journey; but also, experts at building meaningful relationships and empowering our members to achieve their full potential – at work and in life. We are active participants and advocates in building healthier communities and shaping lives through a more all-inclusive, holistic approach to wellness, by deeply empowering people to transform their lives through prayer, vision, habit and personal responsibility – one coaching conversation at a time.
Our team is driven by our vision to see communities as places of opportunity where all populations, inclusive of their backgrounds, have pathways, tools, and support to grow and thrive and so we have and will continue to designate the function of community development to several of our team members who are proven influencers with stakeholders and investors.
The organization's success is driven by the vision. We envision a world where everyone can shape and participate in achieving sustainable, healthier lives.
We are a team of excellent communicators because of our skills at active listening and applying empathy, but mostly, we are change makers committed to using our passion to build healthy communities and change the way our nation looks at healthcare.
We believe that:
Describe your target population and the main outreach strategies to engage them.
Our target population includes elders, minorities, individuals with limited English proficiency and individuals living at or below the Federal Poverty Line. It also includes individuals suffering from chronic conditions including diabetes and obesity, and individuals within the mentioned demographics who simply wish to take a holistic or integrative approach to their health and wellness, because our programs are available to them.
While we intend to continue using every platform available to us, our primary outreach will be conducted by bringing our campaign and message door-to-door, meeting with primary stakeholders and decision-makers, after identifying and partnering with them. This also includes and as proactively coordinating and participating in local events such as health fairs, school-based parent and family events, swap meets, meetup, outdoor markets, faith-based food distribution events, picnics, city-based concerts in the park, and sporting events. We believe that nothing says “community” more than being present and engaged.
How is your organization’s work advancing equity for people and communities that have been historically marginalized?
Integrative care is inherently aligned, in our culture, with the wealthy, involving expensive supplements and treatments that low-income individuals cannot afford, if even made available. Our model of “pre-funded” program alongside value-based payment models allows for greater reach and impact with significantly reduced costs for our constituents and marginalized communities. By doing so, we not only improve quality of care and health outcomes for patients, but ultimately move forward in advancing equity within these populations.
We have, individually and collectively been working to advance equity long before the organization’s inception by partnering with health centers and clinics, Community Health Centers, Rehabilitative/recovery centers in the south Florida tri-county areas, and have, for years, extended our integrative health programs to their patients at no cost. Our organization offers expertise and a voice for the underserved in these partnerships.
Our commitment to championing healthy communities by promoting health equity, particularly for the underserved and vulnerable will further help to shape and drive health and wellness in virtually every sector nationwide. We are committed to moving health and care beyond the expected, to the extraordinary – with a singular focus, helping humans flourish.
Fund Allocation:
